About ‘Friends of Burrough’

In 2013, we set up “Hub in the Pub”, a once monthly chance for anyone in the village to meet in the pub for coffee/tea/cake etc and a catch up with neighbours.  This was especially important for anyone new to the village or anyone living on their own.  At the same time, we set up a village email to keep in touch about local events and fundraisers, as well as Parish Council and Church news.

When our pub (called “Grants” at the time, now “Stag and Hounds”) closed for a couple of years, the Hub continued, being hosted by various members of the village in their own homes to keep the connection going.  We raised small amounts of money from the sale of tea/coffee/cake at each event, and we needed an organisation from which the monies could be used and gifted.

So in 2017 Friends of Burrough was born.  Since then we have helped Burrough Jazz establish itself and we have funded various items needed in the village including, most recently, a very life-like artificial Christmas tree for our Church.

Friends of Burrough decided to drag itself into the twenty first century with the creation of this website as a platform to continue to maintain the connection with all those living both in and around Burrough on the Hill.
